Park in Paris, which is the most important one?

A Park in Paris is an important and famous just as all the museums, the churches and the historical buildings that make it one of the favourite tourist destinations in the world. Discover which ones are the ones to go and why.

Le Jardin des Tuileries

park in parisOne of the most ancient parks in Paris is Le jardin des Tuleries. Caterina de Medici ordered this park in 1568 and it was projected by an Italian architect named Bernardo Carnesecchi who made it in Italian style. Plus, it is also one of the longest because it goes from place de la Concorde to the Louvre museum. Anyway, the style is not the original one anymore. In fact, in 1664 Andre le Notre renewed the park giving it the French style that still has.

 

Le Jardin de Luxembourg 

park in parisWanted by Maria de Medici in 1612, le jardin de Luxembourg is one of the most beautiful park in Paris. In addition, it is the most famous thanks also to the many buildings, statues and fountains located inside it. Inside this park you can see many things. Examples are the Luxembourg building, the senate’s head office. Plus, you can also visit the Luxembourg museum, where many important temporary exhibition take place. Another attraction of Paris is l’Orangerie, a greenhouse that in spring and summer time becomes an exhibition room.

 

 Le Parc des Buttes Chaumont

park in parisBuilt in 1867, Napoleon III ordered it to Haussmann and it is the third biggest park in Paris. Le parc des Buttes Chaumont is located in the arrondissement 19 over quarries of plaster and stone used to build buildings in the ancient times and that became the meeting point of the esotericism in the XIX sec. This park is also known for all the different types of trees and plants that attract birds of many breeds.

 

Le parc de la Villette

park in parisThis park is not only one of the newest because it was built in 1982, but also one of the biggest in Paris with 55 hectares. In fact, inside Le parc de la Villette there are many important buildings and museums: Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, the most important science museum in France; the Gèode, a projection room; the Citè de la Musique, with an amphitheatre, a concert room and a museum; a conservatory.

 

Le Parc Monceau

park in parisThe creation of this park started in the 18th century and ended just in 1861. Located in boulevard Courcelles, Le parc Monceau has different styles and types of trees and plants. Inside this park you can see: a Venetian bridge, a pyramid, a Swiss farm, Dutch windmills, pagodas, temples and Roman ruins. There are also many statues of important French people.

 

 Le Parc du Champ de Mars

park in parisBuilt by the king Luis XV, this park takes the name by the Roman god of war Mars. In fact, it is located in the VII arrondissement between the Tour Eiffel and the Ecole militaire (military school) that uses this park for its military exercises. This park is very important for all the French because on July 14, 1790, there took place the “fête de la Fédération”.

 

Le Bois de Vincennes

park in parisThis is the biggest park in Paris and it has four lakes. Lake Gravelle serves as a reservoir for the other lakes. There are the Lake Minimes which has two islands. Plus, there are the Lake in Nord-Ouest and the Lake Dausmenil. This one is the largest and has two islands. Close to Lake Dausmenil there are the Pagoda of Vincennes and the Tibetan Buddhist temple of Kagyu-Dzong. In fact this park has always been an important culture centre as the Vincennes Castle suggests that belonged to the French monks who had settled there.

 

Le Bois du Boulogne

park in parisThis big park is also one of the most ancient and, more than two thousand years ago, this place was already occupied by a giant forest that included the present forests of Montmorency, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and the forest of Meudon Chaville. This park has nowadays a lake with two islands, a beautiful waterfall, a rose garden and a museum.
