Ile Saint-Louis told by a Parisian

A Parisian perspective on Ile Saint-Louis and a luxury accommodation
“The apartment is in one of the most ancient palaces of the Ile Saint-Louis (arrondissement 4). The palaces in that area of the Seine had been built first. The one where the apartment is has been built in the second half of the 17th Century, between 1630 and 1647. Even if the Ile Saint-Louis is in the heart of the city, it still is sort of an elitarian place because it is linked to Paris only by the bridges! Also, on the islands, there are still only 17th-century palaces, except for a pair of rarities. Until 1625, the islands weren’t linked to Paris. The Ile Saint-Louis was just an island with grass that used to belong to the same chapter of Notre Dame cathedral. Today, there still is the impression of living in the 17th century with the difference that now you can just cross a bridge and be in the heart of Paris”.
“The managing of the apartment is by Service Hde of Stefano Puorto. Service Hde manages the reservation. Then, in Paris, there is the agency that takes care of welcoming the guest, and of assistance. Every guest can ask for help or information from somebody who is always ready for him or her. Our guests can have assistance every time to solve accidents or to ask for further information”.
“What makes the apartment unique is its location. It is on the first floor of a historic palace along the Seine, where it overlooks. It is so close to different attractions as St. Gervasio and St. Protasio church; too many bridges; to the Bateaux. Even if it is on the first floor, there is an elevator. Also, there is a reception too and all the services I already mentioned. Another unique feature of the apartment it’s its spaces. Other apartments are always bigger and the owner might ask more for rent. It is not a big deal for those who are looking just for a bedroom, a big bathroom, a kitchen, a hall, a toilette, and a living room – that, in our case, it’s 28mq large and it has two big windows overlooking the Seine“.
“The apartment is in the very heart of the city, on one of its two islands. On the Ile de la Cité there is the Notre Dame cathedral and public buildings. On the other one, “ours”, the Ile St Louis, there are private palaces. It is a peculiar place in Paris, you can see it especially at night. It is different from the other districts in Paris. On the Ile Saint-Louis, you can still see actual local shops: butchers, pharmacies, florists, wine bars, fromageries, groceries, and small supermarkets that sell everything and that are open till 10 pm. It is a lively district great for families too. Also, it is an area that had always attracted the most famous actors, from the ’50s till now. During a walk, it’s so easy to spot, famous actors!”
“The most loved feature of the apartment is its quietness. There, you can have all the peace you want. That is possible because the apartment overlooks on the Seine and the opposite banks are far away. At home, it is always calm but when you go out you immediately understand that you are in the very heart of Paris. Even if the metro station is very close, you can go everywhere on foot! You can reach the Latin Quarter in a few minutes; the Louvre is just 10-minutes walking distance! Also, from the apartment is very easy to go shopping along the Seine and go eating at the finest restaurants. The location of the apartment is unique especially for those who want to take advantage of every comforts in Paris, visiting museums, taking walks in the most famous historic districts without giving up the peace. At Evening, when tourists have left the islands, the district becomes more “provincial”, linked to Paris only by its bridges“.
“It depends on the days of the stay. We host people that stay in Paris for 4 days or more than a month! For who is in Paris for 4, 5 days or for a week I recommend exploring the city on foot. This way, you can take measures of Parisian streets, becoming conscious of the distances. The first thing to do might take a walk to spot the attractions in the immediate neighborhoods of the Islands, such as Notre Dame cathedral – that now is closed, but it will surely re-open, the Latin Quarter, Le Marais – that you can watch from the windows in the living room… From Pompidou Center, you can easily go to the Louvre. After giving a first glance at feet, you can have an idea of what your planning to visit Paris will be. Also, walking in Paris you understand that even if it is a huge city, you can move around on foot. I think that a walk is one of the most eligible ways to explore Paris. You can get lost once or twice but you also discover districts, streets…”
“And, about restaurants, and clubs, I know that there is so much advice in guides or on the net but our guests can consult a dossier with the addresses and information of the best restaurants and places on the islands, and in the neighborhoods – for all budgets! If they would ever need other information or any help, they can always contact the customer care service!”
