The connection between France and the Emirates at Expo 2020 Dubai
French beauty can be found in Paris and in a plethora of French cities, but this year we can also find it at Expo 2020 Dubai! Let’s see how France represents itself in this fantastic event that takes place every 4 years in different places of the world.
The pavilion chose the slogan “France, Light is the Source of Inspiration” and it is located in the Mobility district. It seeks to explore light as a catalyst for progress, a means of communication and a source of creativity.
The first World Expos started in the mid-19th century and, as we know, in each era helped find out solutions to new global challenges. We have to mention the Universal Exhibition of 1889, which was held in Paris from May 6 to October 31. The seat was Champ-de-Mars, near the Seine. The event is remembered in particular for the construction of the Eiffel Tower, which was the tallest structure in the whole world at that time.
What about 2021? 132 years have passed since then, and this year the French Pavilion is very captivating, the contents include Diderot’s Encyclopedia, a museum in the shape of a ship, a virtual exhibition under the ice floe, and virtual content in the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. It is a journey of “light and enlightenment”. Visitors to the pavilion will see unique French innovations and creations in all areas of science, research, technology, arts and crafts, and education.
Expo 2020 Dubai provides France a valuable opportunity to highlight its attractiveness and competitiveness, and to present its proposed solutions and innovations to respond to many of the major challenges facing the world today, such as global warming.
Furthermore, the pavilion also offers dazzling daily light shows, an immersive cultural and artistic experience waiting for the visitors, and exceptional French dishes that satiate their tastes. Just to give you an example, Jessica Prialbato is the ambassador of the French Pavilion and a pastry chef at the Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris. Named ‘World’s Best Pastry Chef 2019’, she creates delicious surprises for the France Pavilion. Even if Expo is in Dubai, it also gives hints where to go when visiting France, and of course Paris.
Last but not least, do you know what will happen when Expo ends? The pavilion will literally be moved from Dubai to Paris, so everyone will be able to admire it! Isn’t it great news? It will become a permanent tourist destination in France. This step aims to provide an opportunity for visitors who were unable to see the contents of the French Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, to see it in Paris.
So, what are you waiting for? Now you have another reason to come to Paris, À bientôt!
