Parisian food and recipes to try in Paris

One of the best sides of traveling is that you discover a world of flavors! French and Parisian cuisine are some of the most loved all around the world.

Even if French cuisine is famous to be fancy and chic, once you come to Paris you find out that great quality is in Parisian street food as well. Here is which food try in Paris and where.

Food to eat in Paris

  • Falafel
My favorite spots to eat falafel in Paris in Le Marais. L’As du Fallafel is the place to go to taste delicious chickpeas-balls. Even if it is not a traditional French food, it surely is part of the Parisian culture now!

  • Crepe
You can’t leave Paris without tasting a crepe! In Paris, you can eat a crepe in brasseries or as street food. I think you can eat an unforgettable crepe in the Marché des Enfants Rouges, at the kiosk Chez Alain.

  • Steak Frites
If you would like to taste this unique Parisian flavor, you must go to the Relais de entrecote. It is a restaurant in Saint Germain who only cook this dish. What is peculiar about this steak is that it is merged in a mystery green sauce!

  • French onion soup
The French onion soup is one of the must-eats in Paris! That is because it is one of the most traditional dishes of French cuisine. I recommend going to “Au Pied de Cochon” to taste the very best. It is a restaurant in Les Halles, open 24/7!

  • Chocolate and pistachio escargot
You can taste this recipe as Parisian street food in Canal Saint-Martin. The place to go is “Du Pain et des Idées”. In this bakery, you will find many types of flour bread and sweets. But, the real plus is this peculiar pastry made with chocolate and pistachio! Don’t worry: it is called escargot just for its spiral form.

  • Lemon Tart
A must-eat of Parisian food surely is the lemon tart. To taste the best, go to Sebastien Gaudard pastry, in Nouvelles Athènes. It is an elegant pastry shop where you can buy the best lemon tart in the city!
