First Time in Paris, what you can’t miss
Here is what to see if you are coming to Paris for the first time. Even if the city is huge and there is a lot do to even during the longest stays, I have selected what you can do to get an idea of Paris in the shortest time. Many people come to Paris just for a weekend, and making choices on what to see in advance is a good idea.
If you would like specific planning about how to spend your time in Paris, take a look at Paris Travel Planning. There are free planning proposals in many formulas.
First time in Paris, what to see, what to do
- Taking a walk on the Champs-Elysées
Well, this is something to do even if you are coming back to Paris. Walking on one of the most famous streets in Europe is something unique! Besides visiting the Arc de Triomphe and the Tuileries garden, the Champs-Elysées is the place to go if you love shopping!
- Going at the Eiffel Tower
Read carefully: I haven’t written going ON the Eiffel Tower. If you don’t have a skip-the-line ticket, I suggest going to the Eiffel Tower without going up. You can get many views of Paris from above for free in other places.
- Taking a cruise on the Seine
Take a cruise on the Seine to get to know the city center better! Taking a cruise on the Seine, on the famous bateaux mouches, allows you to cross the city on water from its very center, the Ile Saint-Louis! Pay attention: departing from the Ile Saint-Louis means that you can take a look a the Notre-Dame Cathedral. It is obviously one of the must-sees of Paris, whether you are coming here for the first time or not!
- Exploring Le Marais
Le Marais is probably the most representative district of Paris. Visiting Le Marais means to explore an area where traditions are kept alive getting along with modernity. Just think that it is the same quarter of the Notre-Dame Cathedral and of the Centre Pompidou!
