The famous passages of Paris have covered pedestrian walkways that can be found throughout the city, and often feature small traditional stores. These small arcades began to spring up all over Paris in the late 18th century.

When the grand boulevards were built by Haussmann, many passages were demolished. Anyway, it is still possible to admire more than 20 passages that still exist today.

The Passage Jouffroy extends between the Boulevard Montmartre and the Rue de la Grange-Bateliere;
Galerie Vivienne is a historic passageway in the second arrondissement of Paris. It includes many fashion and furniture stores;

The Passage du Grand Cerf in the second arrondissement features many small stores offering antiques, jewelry, handmade goods, and more.
